Learning to live a healthier lifestyle is not easy. We can drive-up to almost anything these days. From dropping off our dry-cleaning to ordering and picking up our food – it’s as simple as driving up, pushing a button and shoving something out the car window or taking something in through the window. Easy, easy.
But when it comes to food, is all of this convenience such a good thing? Well, no. Why? Because convenience food usually means processed, not always, but most of the time. And processed simply means that a machine has taken a food item from its natural state, stripped it down, and put it into a form in which it can live on a shelf for an indefinite period of time. When we choose to eat these highly processed foods, our bodies don’t have to do much work to break them down. The machine has done that for us. Consequently, we don’t get much of a metabolic boost, and the nutrient value is greatly diminished.
But the question on everyone’s mind in this day and age of hurry, hurry, is who has time to prepare meals? That’s where we come in. Our goal through these cooking classes is to help you learn how simply and easily a nutritious meal – that tastes good – can be prepared.
Our cooking classes are held in our Houston Heights location on selected Saturdays. There will be demonstrations for 5 or 6 recipes and everyone gets to taste! You are also given handouts of the recipes.
