If you've spent any time on my home website, you know that I'm not a fan of dieting. Quite simply, diets don't work. We tire of the restrictions, the rules, the monotony. But what I've seen work time and again, is a mindset shift. A shift to concentrating on overall health, starting from the inside out.
That shift begins not in a gym, but in the kitchen. The faster we can switch to eating real food that we prepare a goodly portion of the time, the quicker we can heal our health, lose weight, and regain energy. NOW -- I'm not talking about chef level cooking. I'm talking about simple, quick, good basic cooking that anyone can do.

Farmer's Market Tour and Cooking/Nutrition Class
Saturday, July 5, join Shana for her biggest class of the year. You'll begin your day at the Urban Harvest Eastside Farmer's Market where you'll meet with the farmers and vendors and get the scoop on their growing principles and see the pride they take in providing you the best food possible. Talk with organic and sustainable farmers providing everything from fruits and vegetables to pasture-raised meats and home-crafted cheeses and olive oil, and much more.
Then, join Shana back at the Shana Ross Fitness studio where she'll take the bounty from our market visit and show you how to easily craft home-cooked meals that will nourish your mind and body and get you on track to having a healthier, happier body.

Eastside Farmer's Market Tour: 9:00 am - 10:00 am We'll meet at the Eastside Street entrance to the market. Shana will be decked out in a red Shana Ross Fitness shirt. Booths are in the parking lot behind an office building located at 3000 Richmond Ave., between Kirby Dr. and Buffalo Speedway. Turn onto Eastside St. to access the market entrance.

Cooking Class at Shana Ross Fitness Studio: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm After the market tour, we'll meet at the Shana Ross Fitness studio, 629 W. 22nd St., about a 10-12 minute drive to the Heights from the market. Here, in the studio kitchen, Shana will show you how to transform the gorgeous, nutritious goodies from the market into great tasting meals that are easy to prepare and quick to get on the table. Bring your appetite and get ready to have some fun in the kitchen (yes-it can be fun!).
